An Inside Look into Adult and Family Ministries

Transition. Increased responsibility. Collaboration. Steep learning curve.

These are all words we have said so many times in the past couple months as we have accepted the role of co-pastors of Adult and Family Ministries. It is an exciting time to learn new areas of ministry, see the strengths of those ministries and consider the potential for collaboration and growth.

One of the most beautiful pieces of this transition is the Family Life team that we inherited from Mike Jared. After 18 years of strong leadership, Mike introduced us to his team as he was retiring. This team is made up of 7 couples who are passionate about the health of families and marriages at Salem Alliance and beyond.

These men and women mentor other couples, host our marriage enrichment and marriage prep classes, and research materials to educate and build up married couples. They are creative, passionate and hard working. The upcoming “Rock Your Marriage” retreat in Sunriver is just one example of the way this team is thinking outside of the box to keep bringing quality teaching and transformative experiences to families here.

It is our joy to get to know these couples, and we are honored to serve beside them in ministry. We believe that marriage takes work, and it is worth hard work. Watch for Marriage on the Rock and marriage prep classes starting in late September. It’s never too soon or too late to make your marriage a priority!

Opportunities to Serve

Serve with Pastoral Care

Upper Room Hosts
The Upper Room is a special place and gift to our church and community.  Every year over 6,000 people spend time there seeking God’s presence and finding His grace and love. Hosts spend their time greeting the guests, as well as praying over the many requests that come in.  There are currently several open shifts during the week that need to be filled.  If you are interested and or want more information, please contact Gordon at

Handyman Team
Join the Salem Alliance Handyman Team to provide household assistance to our church family. The Team prioritizes widows, orphans and low income, but we are also open to consider other service opportunities. The Team is able to assist with simple outdoor and indoor repair and clean-up. If you have handyman skills and would like to join this team, please contact Gordon at

Serve with Community Impact

Royal Order of Red Suspenders
Check out RORS (Royal Order of Red Suspenders), our firewood ministry, and see if you want to join our crew. Bring your chainsaws, work gloves, and work boots. Even if you don’t have tools, we’re enlisting anyone who wants to work outside to split and stack wood. We can train you on our power splitters. For more information, contact Melanie at
