Vision 360 Weekend
This year’s Vision 360 Weekend, which includes our annual meeting, will be next weekend, September 29,30. This will be a special weekend you’ll want to attend as you hear stories of all God has been doing this past year, hear interviews from some of our ministry areas, celebrate baptisms, vote on Governing Board and Elder candidates and hear about our continued vision of making Salem “A City at Peace with God.”
Upcoming Mission Trips
We are sending teams out all across the world including Asia, Africa and South America. Stop by the World Impact table in the lobby after the weekend services. Applications open on Monday, October 1 at salemalliance.org/missions.
Alpha is a series of interactive sessions, typically run over eleven weeks, where anyone can explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. Everyone is welcome, but Alpha is designed particularly for people who would not describe themselves as Christians or church-goers, or are new to faith. No two Alphas look the same, but they generally have three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation. For more information about how to join an Alpha group, contact Sarah at firstname.lastname@example.org.

An Inside Look into Bible Studies
Every Thursday a group of five individuals gathers in a small conference room to write Bible study curriculum that corresponds with the sermon series here at Salem Alliance. Each member of the group brings a unique history, life story and perspective. The diversity of background, age and life experiences lends itself to deep discussion, dialogue and even debate.
Every meeting begins with prayer. The team prays for God’s anointing of each word that is written and for each and every person who is going to do the lessons. The team knows that without Holy Spirit, none of the study guides would ever be completed. After months of writing, editing, rewriting and more editing, a study guide is formed. It is a beautiful, intense, dynamic and spiritual experience.
The outcome of the team effort is the study guide that is used in all of our Bible study groups. This fall our study is called “Real Faith” and it is eight lessons from 1, 2 and 3 John. The Apostle John is very clear in these letters: Real faith believes Jesus is the Son of God, fully human and fully divine. To that conviction, John adds that love is the essential evidence of that belief. Real faith believes and loves.
The Bible study curriculum writing team longs for all of us to dig into the Word of God as a church body. We hope and pray that this year we all will be encouraged, challenged and changed. Real faith, when lived out in our day-to-day lives, will undoubtedly help us fulfill our vision that Salem be a City at Peace with God.
